Precautions during LED storage and usage

LED is very sensitive electronic components, so must be very careful during storage and usage, otherwise it will cause the damp LED, puncture or death. And a lot of problem LEDs only can be found during usage.

Storage:
1. Moisture proof and anti-electrostatic package with moisture absorbent material must be used, to keep moisture usually can keep for 1 year if not open the package.

2. Before opening the package, the LED should be kept at 30℃ or less and humidity less than 60%RH.

3. After opening the package, the products should be soldered with 24 hours. If not, please store at 30 degree or less and humidity less than 10%RH. It is recommended that the LED be operated at the workshop condition of ≤30℃ and humidity less than 60%RH.

4. If the moisture absorbent material has fade away or the LEDs have exceeded the storage time, baking treatment should be performed based on the 80±5℃ for 24 hours.

Static electricity during usage:
Static electricity or surge voltage may damage the LEDs, damaged LED will show some unusual characteristics such as the forward voltage becomes lower, or the LED not light at the low current, or can’t be light up.

All devices equipment and machinery must be properly grounded, at the same time, it is recommended that wrist bands or anti-electrostatic gloves, anti-electrostatic containers should be used during processing LEDs.

LED Lighting rapid growth with Penetration from 15% to 60%

LED is in the early stage of the outbreak period, it will complete the growth from 15% to 60% in the next 2-3 years, and then followed by 1-2 years to achieve the penetration from 60% to 80%.

General lighting is an industry with the same great market capacity as smart phone, and it is in the process of rapid growth. In view of general lighting market structure, energy-saving lamps accounting for almost the same proportion with incandescent lamps, about 40%, but the application of incandescent is downward, as the further implementation of global ban on the sale of incandescent lamps, the proportion of energy-saving lamps and LED lighting devices will increase.

LED lighting takes up 2% -3% of the all lighting products installed. However, according to the global data in 2012, the LED lighting products has accounted for 15% of the newly sold lighting products, the ratio in China is even higher.

For an industry, the period with the highest growth rate is when the penetration rate increases from 15 percent to 60 percent. LED is in the early stage of the outbreak period, it will complete the growth from 15% to 60% in the next 2-3 years, and then followed by 1-2 years to achieve the penetration from 60% to 80%. This is similar to the penetration of smart phones, has grown rapidly over the past two years, now its penetration reaches 60%. LED is in the state of smart phone two years ago.

5000 floating LED bulbs in Otaru Canal for praying with star

On December 23th 2013, Japan Otaru, Hokkaido Tourism Association put 5000 units floating blue LED bulbs in the Otaru Canal, people may throw one by one into river with wishes in night sky, local residents call this event as: pray with star. When night fall, the floating bulbs just like bright stars shinning in the night sky, and this activity took place from 17:00 to 20:00, 21th to 23th December.

The Tourists and local residents dressed in Christmas costumes, put the 5000 LED lights into the river in the white snow and pray. This floating LED bulb are cylindrical spherical, and diameter 8.5cm, bulb cover made of plastic, inside equipped with solar panel and rechargeable battery. It will automatically light up when meet the water. This is the second time that Otaru Canal organized this event since 2012.

 
 
          

The LED light source used in agriculture

LED light source for farming is getting popular for energy saving and improvement of product quality.

This LED Farming Demonstration Project’ held at the lobby floor has been planned by the local economy & industry group of Minister of Economy, Trade & Industry of Japan in order to inform the possibility of LED as a new farming light source and the new LED-related technology to the public and the officials of that ministry.


This project focuses on the LED lighting fixtures for farming which have high brightness LED with high light quantum, and especially optical wavelength of red and blue light can hasten the growth of plants so that enables stable harvesting from vegetable farming.

New York architect Allison Patrick has set goals that DIY 30pcs designs in 30 weeks, it is known as DIY 30x30x3 project, which includes a lot of interesting original design. Among those designs is the DIY paper LED lamp, its design idea from cynara scolymus, this chandeliers inside is LED bulb that covered by paper lampshade which is composed by DIY round slip, the slips including a variety of fiction books, colorful maps, magazines and music, these cultural and creative LED chandelier brings more fun to room.

 

      

LED visible light communication technology

“Visible light communication” is concerned as a new communication technologies by use of LED, which is about to enter the practical stage. 

Japan Okinawa Naha venture company LAMPSERVE will perform the world’s first outdoor demonstration experiments, which begin in September, aim to establish high-speed communications technologies. If developed successfully, it is expected to enter emerging market in Africa and Asia and countries which is lack of communication infrastructure.
