Times they are a changin! The lighting industry will need to re-invent itself! Smart
Lighting is called the third wave in lighting evolution, enabled
through the introduction and emergence of semiconductor based digital
light sources such as LEDs and OLEDs. This marriage of semiconductor and
lighting technologies will open up an array of new functionalities and a
myriad of exciting new applications.
In
parallel and based on new players entering the market, the traditional
lighting industry has entered a phase of transition. The traditional
lighting industry has to move away from a product oriented industry,
towards an industry providing full service lighting systems and
solutions. This
transition will create new and unforeseen challenges to the very
identity of all participants in the value chain, as well as tremendous
new opportunities. Collaboration and partnerships outside and beyond the
traditional lighting value chain are becoming extremely important to
the every existence. The lighting industry will need to re-invent
itself!
The focus of the 4th Smart Lighting
Conference & Showcase will be on the state-of-the-art in
technology, applications, business models and best practices in
intelligent and dynamic solid state lighting worldwide. Special focus
will be on the achievements, developments and impact of networked ICT
solutions and systems on the further enhancement of efficiency and
management of smart lighting systems and solutions. The concept of
“lighting on-demand” will be presented in a variety of applications from
a global perspective.
